It's interesting to see lower volume and narrower foil boards. Local knowledge has higher volume and more width (especially in the tail) offering better light wind performance.

For me I need relatively more power to waterstart a longboard because of the tall sides and inability to pull it under me.
At 180 lbs a 120-140L board would be ideal.

Theoretically: 1-5mph winds and a custom 14m-20m sail. Would work? What's the biggest that's ever been experimented with?

You're trying to solve a board problem with a sail solution.

It probably is around 35lbs with straps and centerboard. I believe this is the heavier/more durable construction of the Megacat.

I have an 11.5 that I don't bother rigging. If the wind is that light I'd rather be on a light/tight leech 8.5 2 cam and my raceboard.

Anything more than 10-12 and I'll foil with a 7.2.

I have less faith in the speeds of foils.
Had some Cal Cup winners try to sail with me on their smaller foils, not their Course foils, and while speeds were almost close...they dropped in from abov ...
