The last foiling I did, a week ago, the wind was averaging 20-22 and I used a 3.7...could have used a 3.4 as I had to arm wrestle the sail in the gusts...I weigh 155', using a LP foil.

Why not purchase a slingshot foil board? Windance in hood river has a bunch of 135 liter ones for a screaming deal.....and they will fit the slingshot foil without modifications.

I use a single sided adjustable outhaul on all of my sails. I just use two booms so I have an AO on each boom. 3.4 to 5.5. The AO works great, I encourage you to try it out.

It is all relative to the type and size of the foil, and how well the board can get you going to the lift speed of the foil that you are using, how heavy you are, if you can pump etc. etc.
