I agree that a large board can make it harder to step on as the tail won't sink much if at all so the step is higher.

As a 150-170 lb person, I never needed to go above 9.2 on my Formula board. 8.7 was probably all I needed (8-13 knots).

I learned by beach starting lower and lower in the water. Then figured it out in the middle of the lake.

Optimal conditions are smooth winds, medium wind speed for the sail size, and flat water.

I agree with the others, get filmed by someone else and film them. Try to jibe as close to shore as possible both ways.

Update: repair identical after many more sessions. The sail itself however is looking tired. Broken stabilizers, small cracks everywhere (patched with my favorite tape!).

Not sure it'd help much as you'd still need to adjust tension depending on gear you wear and food you ate.
