For SDM, mast fits over the plastic keeping pins in. For RDM, the mast sits on top of that second piece, which is necessary to keep pins engaged.

Ideally if I could make the Chinook aluminum mast work I would go with that, as long as it doesn't cause any major performance issues or pose a threat of damage to the mast ... |
