You Tube Video of a Kite getting caught in the rigging of a tall ship. The kiter rides it out being towed behind the ship.

I was real close to the kiter when his kite hit the top of the ship mast with quite a loud whoop. It was not a staged stunt to possibly destroy his kite. His lines are probably frayed from the snagging. He had done at least one other glory jib around the stern and I was trying to go astern of the ship also as the wind had died back. He lost power and the kite dropped onto the mast. No idea if he was a local kiter since it was a major Canadian holiday weekend and the Windance swap meet day.

What a nice bonus day. I sailed the 5.5 and 100lt board up at swell perfectly powered. those guys at the hatch were slogging more than I would have liked. They were on 5.2/4.7's? really nice swell for a light wind day.
