Starboard have been remoured a tri fin for a few years, curious that MFC is going to make a set soon in USBox, wonder for who ?

no the center fin is from Spain , Tarifa Fin Co, fins are quite nice, easy to deal with, postage reasonable. They made a smaller set of 3 for my Witchcraft, a 27cm center only as well , & so I had one for the Mistral tri fin in the small size 17cm. I have others to try , and the original one is cut down to 22.5cm.

The single fin I used on the WC is a MauiUltraFin Wave , a MUF, and now have a X-Wave of those & soon to be 3, from Hawaii .

I never bothered to really measure the fin placement on the Witchcraft,
they are close to the rail, 1" + a little, and I "think" about 1.5 TOE

the placement guidelines I used were given by different people, because the boards are so different, bottom shape, nose, tail, rocker, I don't think a direct copy was the avenue to pursue

Very nice photo comparison. Thanks!
I look forward to your review.

PS - to the rumors of quad fins, I would suspect that any such plans are for an SUP, where it makes more sense.

Guess I'm wrong. The complexity of construction and added cost would seem prohibitive except for specialist gear, but maybe not. With more production boards pushing the $2000 US price range, I would think the market for even more complex boards to be very small...perhaps this end of the price range is not as sensitive to cost...

I will probably take this to Rio Vista, this week to try. Blue Chrysler Town & Country, Colorado plates, you may be able to "try"

tri fin has seen a little action,
a. it did not sink
b. turns like a rat on Nikes
c. need more time , cause too many boards and so little time....
d. it goes straight quite nice, and just goes upwind like crazy

very pleased with the effort, have too many new toys.

the Probox and fins seem up for the task, strong and they suit the center fin,

will play more when its not so windy , my Witchcraft is calling

Wink

The tri-fin project looks great. What type of paint did you use and how was it applied? Airbrush?
-Thanks

Thanks..watch for my 20ten project, its done Except the paint, too cold right now. A Quad.

no airbrush. its all WallyWorld $2.97 a can Krylon. so nothing special, I do put down white primer first, first, then very lightly sand. The different colors I do together and try to blend them together. Also a use a better grade of masking tape in different widths, comes off better, and better seal . The skulls I drew myself on thin cardboard , then cut out with a X-Acto knife , tape the outside down and spray.

its mostly in the prep and masking work, it going to get scratched up some, but its now a year old almost and looks the same.

you can PM me if you want any more info. Cheers
