To the question, "When you do not windsurf, you do ..." you answered ...
Surf: 23%
SUP: 9%
Kitesurf: 4%
12% Other water sports (swimming, canoeing ...): 12%
45% Outdoor sports (climbing, mountain biking ...): 45%
7% Team sports (football, beach volleyball ...): 7%
A big thank you to the 1257 voters ...
Et en piste pour un nouveau sondage...
The poll was conducted in France...what do French windsurfers know? Can you imagine 1000 windsurfers participating in a poll in the U.S. |
It might be interesting to see an article about how people balance other sports with windsurfing, not so much about the benefits of "cross-training" but the physiological tradeoffs--a sailing session means a lot of isometric leg pressing (particularly if a lot of long reaches or a long slog), which impacts performance / muscle recovery to activities such as mountain biking or distance running, which place different physiological demands on the body. Or even a feature on "celebrity" athletes from other sports that windsurf in the off season (I don't know who, though, for windsurfing, but Olympic gold medal slalom skier Julia Mancuso spends some of the offseason in Maui and paddleboards, surfs, and kitesurfs.) |

OHHHHHH DUDE!
Sounds like the Baja issue was a hit.
Since there have been a bunch of "Baja Issues" on the Gorge....
Its time to do 8 days around the Bay.
8 days around the Cape?
8 Days around Alaska.......no thats been done twice.
How about 8 days on the California Coast.
8 days in Florida before and after/ during a hurricane......I VOLUNTEER.
8 Days in Texas.......oh just got the new mag, well done Josh.
Basically I am super down with the articles on sailing all the spots in a given region.
Milla TIme
and I will shamelessly add a photo here------>
La Ventana Aroyo Crew on the day we packed up the tent to regress back North.
What a bunch of Skallywaggs....is that how you spell that??? |

so I made reference to some technique questions in my earlier post. I didn't feel like waiting so I posted one of my questions and got some great answers . see http://www.iwindsurf.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17659&highlight=
anyway, I think there are a lot of technique nuance questions to mine here for possible articles:
best way to oversheet the sail
Underhand versus overhand grip when gybing
turn arc when overpowered
how best to flip the sail
rail to rail verus step gybe - when to use the different types
Is a duck gybe better in high winds? |
