I'm looking for some economical lodging in Hood River. Would prefer something around $65-$75 a night for a family of 4. Any ideas?

I always thought the Riverview Lodge (http://www.riverviewforyou.com/) was one of the better family friendly deals around. Spacious, clean rooms, hot tub and indoor pool. It's within walking distance of downtown, too. I haven't stayed there in about three years, though. They used to book up pretty quickly in the summer.

If you don't have your heart set on HR and it's all about the sailing at Dougs, Rowena, Celilo, Maryhill, The Wall or Rufus, Cousin's Country Inn (http://www.cousinscountryinn.com/) in The Dalles is another one I thought was a good deal.

If you aren't dedicated to staying in Tinsel Town, you can give us a look
@The BingenSchool Inn/ Columbia Gorge Hostel,,located in Bingen just across the HR bridge. www.bingenschool.com 509-493-3363 6-9PM
For $65 a night, your family can get a private room, with 2 queen beds and one single, a small dorm fridge, a killer view of Burdoin Mountain ,,,and your own chalkboard for the kids.
You also have a gymnasium to use, as well as a shared kitchen and cafeteria/lodge area.
We're definetly not the Hylton,,,but work quite well for well traveled folk who enjoy an international atmosphere
