I've never met George McLean, but I miss him.
Has the weather changed that much (too many babies producing CO2) or did he just have a extraordinary knowledge of the subtleties of the Gorge micro climates? It seems I have to wait until Saturday morning these days to decide whether to go East to the Gorge or West to the Coast.
Argh!

yes George is gone to a place he get's paid real $$$, must have signed a no compete clause. The east-coast iw newbie forecasters leave much to be desired.

Why would MikeG. be doing the bay when he is in the gorge, to much pressure? or isobars?

George is working out of Portland for the Spanish company that owns a large percentage of the wind turbines in the gorge and thereabouts. They rely on forecasters like George to anticipate and plan for power production, as I understand it.

Ya, I miss the G-man too

Interesting thing about the daily is that the 7:00 am will forcast maybe 15 mph ave. out east but it will have been blowing 25+ since 5 am.... then it will STILL say the same thing at the 11:30 update. I think a lot of these (at least the daily) are made up the day before and just set up to post at a specific time. Either that, or the don't actually check the windspeeds or pressures on thier own service.
