I went to the hook yesterday so my kids (7 and 10) could
do some light wind sailing SE of Well's Island.
After they started popping up onto an easy plane
with their 2.0 and 2.5 kid rigs, I rigged up 4.8 and joined
them.
It was ridiculous how powered I was at the hook
and particularly strange to be sailing next to my
kids fully powered on a 4.8.
Punching through the island wind shadow to the White
Salmon bridge, I actually found myself to be a
bit overpowered!
I learned from this experience that my kids can sail
some pretty windy conditions as long as they are
above the hook. The down side of this is that
I've lost my excuse to sail myself when it gets
'too windy' for the kids. :-* |

Now, of course, it's blowing 14. No damned wonder I don't go sit around HR waiting for wind, or leave @ 2:30 AM just because it's blowing and has a big gradient. I know how many of you feel when you drive out east just in time for the wind and swell to fall apart.

If you've been around the area long enough whether a local or tourist and breath eat and sh*t windsurfing, you should know that Viento is sometimes the only place you can get a sesh in. I think it wil be a repeat today and you all should head over to Viento. BTW - Temira has totally called a great forecast this entire summer; she deserves a cherry pie but I don't know how to bake. How about a bottle of wine. Temira, keep up the great work. What would I do without my crackberry! |
