Hi people!
It's been a long time (actually, it's been just a month) since I left New England and gosh I miss it...
Anyway, let me tell you about the midwest... LAKE MICHIGAN ROCKS!!! I found a group of hardcore sailors here that rip... the conditions are incredible, with head high swell and... waves!!!! Yeah you'll say "there are no waves in lake Michigan", well my friends, I respectfully disagree if anybody is interested in a road trip, let me know, there are plenty of spots, and the locals are willing to share their knowledge, and even point the visitors to a good post sesh burger joint...
I miss you all, take care of my beloved Cape Cod
Juan

Hey Juan, it's great to hear from you! The pictures are the proof, looks good. How often do you get planing wind? Weekend winds have been mostly light around here. It sounds like you're doing better in windy Chicago.

I grew up in Chicago and sailed there and (mostly sailboats) for over 25 years. You are one lucky guy to have wind like this!. I hope you see a lot more of it than I did
For company check out Northwestern Sailing Club and Dempster Street Beach in Evanston. Maybe I'll see you next time I go home.

Hey Steve! Good to hear from you buddy!
We get 5.2 to 6.5 conditions may be once per week, so weekend warriors like me sometimes miss it... You can sail more if you have bigger stuff, so far in 4 weeks I've put three sessions (having only one day off work per week), one on 9.8, one on 6.5, the other on 5.2...
We'll see what happens this weekend...
Hope to see you soon, say hi to Igor!
Juan

Actually, although Chicago has been dubbed the Windy City, Boston is windier statistically. I knew someone from the Upper Penn. of Mi. who learned to windsurf there. You ought to take a road trip for some excellent scenery.

Brucie, that's certainly true when you're in Boston flapping your jaw.

Dangling modifier, dangling modifier!! Oh learned one, where did your associate learn to windsurf? Chicago, Boston, or the Upper Peninsula?
Good lord, please go back to junior high!
Not that there's anything wrong with 8th grade.

Juan,
If you have time some weekend - south wind, sunny day - check out Little Sable Point MI. It's a drive, but you can get an extra 10 knots due to the dunes and the thermal effect. I'm sure some of the guys you sail with know about it.

Hey people, good weekend here in the Midwest. If you want to get a feeling of the windsurfing scene here, check out www.windsurfillinois.com
I heard about Little Sable, I'll check it out some weekend... I also heard about St. Joe and its waves... we'll see...
Take care,
Juan
