Now that iwindsurf has ended its season of forecasting in the gorge, how can the longhaul sailers from Portland (and beyond) find out when/where the wind is going to blow so we can blow off work? The windsurfing report in the Oregonian isn't reliable enough to count on. |

the forcasts this time of year are not accurate anyway...look at thepressure gradient and the satillite view for the cloude line. you should be able to tell if its sailable. watch stevenson for east winds and the eastern gorge for west winds this time of year. |

Then there's NOAA:
THURSDAY...WEST 15 TO 25 MPH NEAR HOOD RIVER IN THE AFTERNOON.
FRIDAY...MOSTLY CLOUDY IN THE MORNING...THEN MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGHS
60 TO 65. EAST WIND IN THE AFTERNOON...15 TO 30 MPH WEST OF CASCADE LOCKS (which includes Stevenson).
They'll add Sat & Sun in a day or two. Right now east winds look good from Fri evening right through Monday with highs in the 60s.
Get a weather radio and use it or access NOAA online.

Use the cams. Check Hatch Cam, Full Sail and the one east of the Dalles dam. Look for white caps and check cloud cover. |
