You learn something new every day –

Mike at morebeachdotcom used the acronym VAS (Victory at Sea) to describe this weekend’s surf conditions.

I thought he was being weird, but a long time surfer also used that term on me today.

And just to show you how board I am tonight I see the term used on NE Surf.

Well now that I’ve interrupted you, is anybody planning to tackle it tomorrow?

Ron, it's spelled bo-RED. Board is that other thing. you know.

The swell has been dropping here (NY) since mid-afternoon. Still plenty of VAS to be had. Be safe.

I have been back there only in absolutely desperate situations. I think, they'll have it declared a fedaral superfund site.

Yesterday, Friday the 13th was VERY mental here at Demo. I have never sailed bigger waves in my life. We quit after a brief session - better to live another day. Thursday was great though.

V.A.S., Vibration Absorption System, is also a term used by Rossignol skis. Do you really want to go off topic so much?

There's a series of old newsreels that was entitled Victory at Sea. The opening credits show a gale + in the middle of the Atlantic. Some 50 footers going by with a 12 foot cross chop. Lotsa foam and spray. Surfers' and windsurfers' paradise. Thus, the reference to VAS.

Go get 'em, Mr. Swift. Keep those rascals from going off topic. Here's a textbook example of staying ON TOPIC, posted by one of the forum's notable experts.
