I'm looking to try skateboard sailing in the event parking area, Hood River. Any comments on what kind of board, where to attach the base, how to keep from kill'n myself...

In general you want a board longer than 3 ft. with wide trucks and you want to mount the sail right behind the front truck. Also you want softer wheels and it doesn't hurt if you have a boom and mast dedicted to skate sailing as the boom can take a beating. As for sail size, a 4.0 would be a good starting point depending on your weight. Good Luck, Garrison at GSS.
