Same thing happened to one of my promotion suits, I was able to carefully pull it apart so the damage was minimal but it still sucks. I think they have gone away from that material now but they should replace all suits made with that material free of charge!!

Same thing happened to me last season -- I really had to push them hard to acknowlege defect and eventually replace the damaged portion (but without future warranty). I'm done with Promotion after 15+ years . . . they won't last long if they don't stand behind their products.

Incidentally, I noticed the new portion of replaced suit has printed warning notice that says not to leave inside-out in the sun or something to that effect. WTF? What sailer/surfer doesn't leave his/her wet wetsuit to dry in the sun inside out for awhile at the end of the day. Impracticle and rediculous. Be warned . . .

I had the same problem with a Promotion wet suit, twice. I have been a loyal customer for 15 years, but no more.

First time, happened when suit was left inside out wet. Suit was 6 months old. Promotion only offered to give me a discount on a new suit. I learned my lesson about allowing them to dry inside-out.

The second time happened 2 weeks ago. I rolled up (completely dry) wet suit to pack for drive to gorge (from texas). Suit stuck to itself, Promotion offered to patch, but only patched one side, rip on opposing side was not repaired when I picked up suit.

I feel that because these problems were due to faulty material, Promotion should have gone the extra mile to earn customer lloyalty

Roger.

My two cents for what it's worth.

I bought a few promotion wetsuits with good results and reccomended them to others. Until my last suit. I bought a new suit made with ADV windskin material. I could have bought an older suit for a sale price but I wanted the new material after looking at their web site..

This suit started falling apart from the get go. The seams failed but worse there was cracking and checking on lots of areas of the suit. Leaked like a sieve. I called them and they told me the new material was more delicate and couldn't be exepcted to last as long as the old material. They offered me 20% toward a new suit. ADV doesn't sound very advanced to me. Decided not to get another suit from them.

Yeah,
I've got 3 of their suits right now and they have all stuck together to variable degrees. I've also used their suits for 15+ years and like to keep my business local but this new material isn't working for me. I will be moving on once these suits wear out. (which is happening quickly)

Yeah, promotion's warranty service is the worst
except for every other wetsuit company.

I had a similar experience with a $350 ONeill wetsuit (The shoulders
began to spontaneously crack) except
their warranty is absolutely ridiculous.

It is 12 months from purchase, you have to have the original receipt
and THEY WILL NOT TALK TO YOU.

You are expected to just pack up your suit with an explanatory
note, send it off to their warranty service address and pray that
you get some kind of response.

I sent it in, the cracked panels were replaced and 8 months later
they cracked again. Of course, it was out of warranty by that time
so they wouldn't fix it again.

In this particular case I would have LOVED to have Promotion's
warranty service. Just bring it in to the shop and they fix it no
questions asked. Since the only place to buy it is the HR shop, they
don't even require a receipt (assuming you have the suit of course).

All wetsuits have the potential of requiring repairs. With any other
wetsuit I've seen, you are just screwed when you need them.
