| I recommend dog poop. Apparently there is plenty of it around and so everyone will exhale a sigh of relief if it ends up as missiles to fling at misbehaving kiters.

| Compressed air potato cannon, it can be mounted inside of a van, shoot down the kite, close the doors, and nobody will know what happened.

You wouldn't dare!
I heard someone mention that once.
1. Rent a filled '80' dive cylinder.
2. Buy an old regulator at a swap meet.
3. Detach pressure guage at swivel.
4. Pull up a stop sign.
5. Glue a plug on one end of tube with epoxy.
6. Drill/thread a hole near plug for HP hose.
7. Attatch HP hose with Locktite.
8. Hammer in 4 oversized potatoes (optimum).
9. Use a broom handle and ram them down.
10. Aim at a kiter that is headed away from you.
11. Always use eye protection. Crack open valve. |
Well it's better than the other idea that I know of..........
Fixing bayonets.
Tape a box cutter to the top of your mast, with blade extended, and sail under their lines, close enough to them so you catch the lines, then watch the kite go floating off by itself. 
But you didn't hear it from me.

Flare guns or "very pistols" work.
According to section 4488 of the Revised Statutes of the United States, 46 U.S.C. 481 and under section 5 of the federal boat safety act of 1971, Public Law 92-75, 46 U.S.C. 1454, flare guns used as signaling devices on watercraft and other marine vehicles are not required to be registered

A 10 Ga magnum shotgun would take out a kite at well over 100 yards if you adjusted for windage and drop.
It would do an even better number on the kiter's radiator at three feet.
OTOH, I must confess that I did jump my WSer over a downed WSer many years ago. There are ramps, and there are RAMPS; this was a frigging RAMP. Nothing could have gone wrong ... gone wrong ... gone wrong ...

| I use the "if you jump over me, I get to try and jump over you" approach. They usually figure that one out really fast!

Another fix is telling them that your boards cost you nothing. I did that once when we had a warehouse of free boards to test. It took him a while to understand the implications, but I think it finally sunk in.
