Finally scored good day at Pyramid today. It was something like 18-27 WNW. Wind was steady enough and lake was covered with white caps, just beautiful. Water is warm, no need for wetsuit. Recorded 35.35knots on GPS. I think 40 is possible there on very good day. Just don't rush over there. This very good day is like chasing ghost....in dark.

Hey congrats on getting in a good day at Pyramid. I went out there about a month ago at Warrior point, but it was better described as messing around than actually sailing. But even still, For a couple of minutes here and there, the long smooth swells would form reminding me why I keep on trying. We've been going to Lahontan on a pretty regular basis-I think you'd like it. I'll let you know next time a group of us are going, but this week I'm working and oncall...

LOL, Pyramid seems to have earned a small fan club, so here are links to it on WindAlert (iWindsurf's alternative new website):

And Lahontan is breezy today:

Hey, thanks, just don't give up on me. Work, kids, school and wife's work schedule are limitting my available days for windsurfing.
I'll try Pyramid again this Saturday. Check it out on Windfinder at 14:00.

The airport sensor at Silver Springs is a pretty good read for Lahontan. Also Carson City shows pretty well what the wind may be an hour or two later.

There is no good sensor for Pyramid. The fishery is tucked up against a mountain on the west side and reads out of the east when the wind is actually NW. Sutcliffe reading is actually from Palomino valley, south of Pyramid, better but not enough info to really help. probably best is just look at Reno and look for NW, or maybe SW or SE but then look for where to sail from?

Oh yeah and work sucks especially when there is wind!!! At least I can sail Washoe when I'm oncall, when there is water, of course.
I haven't actually got desperate enough to sail Sparks Marina this year-so far anyway.

beallmd -

After seeing a lot of near sailable days at Donner Lake (work right near by), I'm getting desperate for some reasonable sailing within an hour or so. I have never been to Lahontan. What is it like and is it as muddy as Washoe? Where are the best launches? I'm content with sailing on my bigger gear as long as I can plane and prefer flat water. Thanks.

Wow, funny you should ask, beacause today is definietly a good day to go. Forecast is for mid twenties with higher gusts, def bring mid range gear. Should be a few others there, I'm guessing at the dam, Beach 2, but possibly at Beach 6. The dam has bigger chop. Should start up around 3 to 5 pm, and blow til near dark. I have to work; work is for jerks. At most might need a short suit, no weeds, no problems matey.
Washoe is so shallow now the crocodiles will get you; think watering hole on the Serengeti.
