Helmets spell danger. They're planning on having a wreak. Not with me thanks. Keep an eye on them for sure.  |

Actually, if you surf Oahu North shore (Waimea bay, pipeline) in the winter you will see a fair number of surfers do in fact wear helmets.
And about the only helmet used by surfers there is the Gath surf convertable. I wear this myself when windsurfing and find it does not obstruct vision nor impedes my ability to swim or dive under waves as needed. Which I have done a few times! I tried older helmets, especially the ones made for windsurfing, and did not like the fit nor comfort. If you are considering a helmet, save yourself some time and try the Gath surf first. |
