Rowena/Doug's - The Wind Does an About Face !

Ya had to be there! 7 of us sailing at Rowena on a NW wind with 4.2 - 5.7 sails. Ugly gray clouds come over, then saw a flash of lightening above Lyle, and got off the water.

Winds pick up tremendously, then shifts completely to a straight northerly on to the beach, then to a north easterly. The white caps on the river looked like a vortex as they circled around.

Two sailor still on the water, sure have a tale to tell of that experience in trying to get back! The smell of smoke from the fire added to the weird setting.
