Given all the thoughtful focus on being responsible and conscientious about the condition of your equipment, I elected to check out things more closely before my session today. I reversed my downhaul line, and I decided against continuing to rig a sail because the head strap was looking a bit too worn. I even checked out the tendon on my universal.

You can never be too cautious, even in the rush to hit the water.

I know there have many diatribes about equipment, but the Streamlined two-bolt base is pretty freakin tough, and I replace it every two years. A new skinny mast every few years also seems essential. And let me ask fellow bay windsurfers, is sailing in the fog that fun? I just dont dig on it, seems anti-zen. Its cold , no California blue overhead, never know what the heck is around the corner. My two cents. I agree with Vince, I think most breakdown/gear problems are avoidable.

I usually put a size bigger than “normal” and sail close to shore.
Ex: 5.7m instead of 5.2m or 5.2 instead of 4.7m and so on…

Two years ago, my universal broke in a willy skipper attempt.
75 yards to swim in with the equipment.
