It's so nice to hear that people are being nice and reasonable.
I'm pretty sure they can come up with a safe, decent way to include both sports at the event site. Looking forward to it. _________________ __________________________________________

Hi Gorge Windsurfers-
Thank you to those who submitted your comments to the Port and who spoke at the meeting yesterday. There were 28 guests in attendance, and public comment lasted an hour. The Waterfront Recreation Committee scheduled another meeting this Wednesday, 2:30pm, at the Port office, to consider the comments and deliberate.
You are invited to attend this meeting, and to submit your comments between now and then. Especially effective are comments that share your personal experience using the Event Site this summer- has shared usage been a good or bad experience for you overall, and why?
The rules for the remainder of the season are to allow shared launching until July 31st or whenever the sandbar is usable, whichever comes first, and as decided by Michael McElwee, Port Director. After that date, the Event Site will return to a pump/dry zone for kiting as has happened in the past few years.
Here's the quick scoop on what happened, what's being discussed, and what will happen next:
- People gave spoken testimony at a previous Port Commission meeting in favor of the current shared launch at the Event Site.
- The Port commission deferred this discussion to the Waterfront Recreation Committee, a subcommittee of the Port.
- Yesterday the Waterfront Rec Committee met to discuss several topics, one of which was current usage of the waterfront.
- Whatever decision this committee makes still needs to be approved by the Port Commission. It's unclear at this point what decision- if any- might come from tomorrow's committee meeting, but your feedback on your experience this year is important and will be taken into consideration.
Again, tomorrow's meeting is open to the public and will take place at 2:30 at the Port office.
Hope to see you there,
