The event went off flawlessly again. A big thank you to all the organizers and volunteers, especially the ones on the committee boat - it was really rough out there.
Only downside to the event was totally outside the organizers control - a large south swell that made the launch difficult. Plus the swell must have ripped a lot of sea weed out of the kelp beds at Point Fermin as the course was a sea weed obstacle course.
The winner and second place finisher in both the open and masters class were Gabor and Dave - incredibly consistent sailing from both of them! |

Agree with Capetonian and adding in my thanks as well. Amazing no one broke a mast in the big surf and super-light wind.... |

Just wanted to add my thanks, as well, for a very well run event. Hopefully, the Enduro is here to stay as this was the 5th year for the race. Joe set the best course to date allowing us to dodge the kelp mines and still have no problem making the marks plus we got off two full rounds of racing. Besides the event organizers, we should thank the industry sponsors for contributing some great prizes and swag for the winners. Chinook, Sailworks, DaKine, Ka Sails, Goya, ProMotion, Caliwindsurf, iWindsurf, Capt Kirk (and others)-- thanks for supporting the local event. |

Daniel seems to have some photos up already:

Attack of the killer weeds!
It'd be awesome for a diver to "harvest" the kelp beds a few times a season. OTOH, he'd probably be sent to Guantamao for environmental terrorism...
Anybody know the full results?
It's nice that a successful event was run even though the winds weren't super strong. |

I also want to thank all the participants. It was so nice to see that everybody was at the shore waiting for us (girls) to help in case we were hit by surf from behind. It meant a LOT. Thank you.

Good times for all at the annual gathering of the So Cal W/S tribe! Big thanks to Kelly, Joe, the" Mouth of Cabrillo" who's name escapes me at the moment, Daniel, all the seasick lap counters on the commitee boat, and especially the bartender at the yacht club for all their hard work! How's about a GPS speed event next year... Bull |

Thank You, Domo Arigato, Merci, Gracias and Mahalo to all the sponsors, supporters, and participants who made the 2011 Cabrillo Beach Enduro a fun, safe, and sometimes kelpy, event. We do appreciate the time and effort you gave to make this 5th Annual Race something everyone could participate in and enjoy. We hope the tradition will continue for a 6th year and many more after
Capetonian congratulations on a good race, my secret weapon for this year can only be found by close inspection of my gear while on the beach. My secret weapon for next years race is, well it's still a secret, but I will tell you what it is after I win next years race. |
