Hitch safe did not work on my factory Tundra receiver! Seemed like a great idea. I bought a BMW sometime back and was able to go to the parts department and purchase a non-electronic key for $30. |

There's actually another $3 solution.
The chip in alot of brands really only affects the ignition lock.
You may be able to open your door with a non chip key made at your local hardware store.....sail with that one. Open your door and get the e-key for start up....worth a try....works for GM and others _________________ https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=zw0MgkO7VXw |

I have a Chrysler van that requires the electronic key for the ignition. I had a door key made just to get into the car. It will start the car but it will kill as soon as I try to shift the gear. I've been attaching the blank to a kite string attached to my harness and the harness pocket. I sail in salt water all the time. Have not have a problem with corrosion. If you are concerned, leave a bottle of fresh water under your car if you want to rinse the key before inserting into the lock.
The e-key is hidden in the car. With all that sailing gear inside....it is impossible to imagine where I'd be hiding it.
Have done this for 2 years.....no problem with corrosion. |

You can put your keyfob inside a small metal box which should
block the radio signals and lock it up in the glove box or somewhere else.
Be sure to test if for non functionality when in the box.
Then wear the valet key around your neck with which you lock and unlock the doors.
The waterproof bags looks like they would be a large lump in your wetsuit
also you could trigger it unintentionally unlocking the car. |
