|
|
The following was just brought to my attention. Be aware there will be some parts of Sherman blocked for a few days next week. Here are the details.
> The purpose of this e-mail is to inform you of the establishment of a Safety Zone off of Sherman Island, CA in the Sacramento River within 200 yards of position 38°03'55"N, 121°47'10"W (NAD 83) as depicted in National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Chart 18661. Pacific Gas and Electric Company is conducting an aerial installation of a cable across the Sacramento River, CA from Tuesday, June 19, 2012 through Thursday June 21, 2012 between the hours of 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. daily. Pacific Gas and Electric Company expects to complete the cable installation in one day within the three day window provided, depending on weather and project status. The safety zone is effective upon the commencement of aerial operations in the area described above and will terminate upon the completion of aerial operations. Please see the attached maps for the specific locations of the towers and the applicable safety zone and forward this Boating Notice to any parties that may benefit from advanced notice of this closure. Thank you for your time.

Andy, based on the photo you posted, it looks to me like it will happen at the powerlines located near The Access.

Sorry William I should have waited. Looks like it is at the access. If you are in the loop could you give us a post when the job is completed. Andy the google map looks more like the access not the power lines sailing spot.
Thank You
JT

William is not in the thread.
He is the fellow from PG+E that sent the info to locals in the area.

The last time similar work was done in this area, you could still launch from the upwind corner of the Playpen inside the County Park. One coast guard boat stayed pretty busy shooing everyone away who ventured too far into her nebulous 'no sail zone'.

The closure is expected to be on only one of the three days... probably depending on weather. They probably want low wind for the helo, so they'll probably try and do it early or in the late morning lull. The location is pretty close to the middle of the river between the two towers which are easy reference points and the defined zone is a 200 yard circle around that point.
