You know Bard, I have been quite clear in the past that I really don't believe that there is a voter fraud problem that warrants significant attention or constrictive laws. That's not to say that there is absolutely no incidence of questionable situations or anomalies in elections, but they don't amount to anything worth the attention that many on the right are demanding. Frankly, I'm of the opinion that the voter ID laws being passed in many states are being implemented to disenfranchise voters that characteristically vote Democratic. I can't believe how so many folks are being duped by Fox News, right wing talk radio and various internet sources. These sources are trying to create news using specious talking points. I don't buy that kind of nonsense.
With respect to Tyler's view of democracy, to include weaving in this entitlement "give me" culture opinion so paramount on the right today, I don't subscribe to that point of view. The fact that Romney was caught spouting the 47% nonsense is probably one of the biggest reasons why he lost his bid for the presidency. Add to that the fact the Ryan was singing the same tune, and has a legislative record of wanting cut the crap out of things, to include the privatization of Medicare, just shows how how disconnected many on the right are. It's ironic that Romney and Ryan were so against the ACA forcing folks to buy insurance from private insurance companies, but at the same time were supporting the privatization of Medicare.
The Republicans flat lost an important election because their message was wholly inadequate. I wouldn't ever support a campaign and platform that was so full of holes, and fortunately the majority of folks in the nation felt the same. But, after it is all said and done, the Republicans still control the House of Representatives. They have a golden opportunity over the next 2 to 4 years to show that they can cooperate and work in a bipartisan way to help restore a more vibrant economy and to better streamline government. However, in my view, their already starting off on a bad foot. Instead of getting down to business on addressing the fiscal cliff, tax policy and the AMT as we move towards the end of the year, they're still trying to kick up dirt on the Libyan incident by now attempting to prove that CIA Director Patraeus was somehow culpable for what happened, to include the possibility that he could be compromising national security because of an adulterous affair. Just another stupid witch hunt. What a waste of time and energy. We have some serious issues to address, but Republicans can't seem to focus. They need to turn off Fox News, talk radio and all the questionable internet nonsense and enter the real world. |

he has no clue the greeks and the turks still hate one another from a war 2000 years ago. He is just too stupid to understand that there is even today racism.... The racists need to stop the hate first before the others should forgive them. |

But your position his racism is somehow justified in any sense is a false equivalency too. I do not think you meant that. |
