I need to replace one of the adjustmen collars on my HPL boom. It is a formula boom 245-315 from about 2005? No problems the first few years, only after I started racing in the bay.

There is a little spring loaded tab at the end of the collar that holds down the pin. You press down on the tab to release the pins. The port side tab cracked & the spring is rusted out. What you see in the photos is the working collar. Right now I have to use tape to hold the collar down Sad

Anyone know where I can get a replacement or are there non-HPL collars that may work?

Thanks,

Coachg

I would recommend contacting Derrick Ho at Powerex. A number of years back I bought a replacement set from him when he was a sales representative for HPL. However, HPL was still a viable firm making booms in the Salt Lake City area. Good luck.

It's a small world. Derrick & I have been exchanging emails the last couple of days regarding boards & rigs for my school. I hadn't considered they might carry HPL boom parts.

Thanks,

Coach, let me know if you need one. I think I probably have one or two laying around I could send to you.

Morewind,
Check your PM. I most assuredly need one. Of all the different types of collar adjustments this one is the easiest & smoothest I have ever seen. Butttt, it has so many small parts that can easily break or get clogged by sand or salt. Reminds me of the difference between the M16 & AK47.

Oh my! I was thinking about selling my one aluminum HPL (as part of a whole rig) at a swap meet this spring. Now I think it makes more sense to keep it for parts for my carbon booms. Thanks for jarring my old brain.

I looked and looked through my spare parts bins, gave up, then stumbled across one in a kitchen drawer. It's in fine shape. Where do I send it?
