|
|
Hi there,
I have been looking at the International Riders list on the Starboard, F2 and JP Australia web sites. Women international riders are presented at the very bottom on the JP Web site while other brands tend to equally sort/mix the team (definitely not by gender ). Any particular reason/ opinion for such presentation? |

There is a bit of truth in what you say Dennis0778. In active sports like skiing or snowboarding where female participation is high, there isn't as much of a male centered focus to marketing. Coverage is pretty balanced as a result. But with windsurfing or surfing, not so much. Marketing is about money, so what you see is structured to serve that goal. |

It must be misogynist...........no wait, that would be exceptionally stupid, and sell even less boards in a shrinking market. ;*)
Maybe it's a conspiracy........no wait, how would that benefit JP sales. ;*)
Maybe it means absolutely nothing and next week the men will be at the
bottom of the page, or, maybe not.

Interesting responses so far! Good point but... Would Starboard or F2 have no idea that mostly men sail? Did the other brands lose a HUGE marketing opportunity to align their web site like JP's??? Who knows? The suspens thickens... |

some windsurf board companies don't show any female riders
the percentage of female buyers would be interesting to see, perhaps ask
Anne at Wind NC or Margaret at Avon Sail House. I would gather thar Gary Stone at Isthmus would track this.
if the % were higher we may see some graphic designs other than hypnotic kindergarten drawings
since all the board companies are based outside the USA hard to determine
how they think in terms of equality.
FWIW Ezzy, Sailworks, Hot Sails Maui all list females along with the men.
Northwave , while I found no names , do show photos of both, all what I consider US companies. _________________ K4 fins

just looked at the JP site you mention, not the others, its true the INTERNATIONAL Team has the women at the bottom.
The National and Young Guns are shown by name , no photo and in alphabetical order.
The International team looks to be listed in value order in the males IMO _________________ K4 fins
