and as far as mast compatibility goes, i rig them usually on nolimitz or the chinook(60%) masts..and honestly dont feel much(any) difference between those two.
i have on occasion rigged the 5.7, 6.2 on a neil pryde mast, and although maybe it didnt feel as ideal, but wasnt bad either..
certainly not like rigging a gaastra, or mauisails on a neilpryde, that just doesnt work, feels terrible. _________________ i like longboards. |

U2U2U2, as far as contacting No Limitz, I would think that they would be candid in responding about the differences between their mast and the Ezzy mast because they make both. Quite different than getting answer from Ford about Chevys, because they are competitors that do not share in design efforts, manufacturing, distribution or marketing.
With respect to Northwave's answers, it doesn't surprise me that they aren't going to readily recommend a mast brand that they don't sell. One wonders what they would say about any other masts in the marketplace. Also, even the answer from the owner, who doesn't design the sails, seems short on specifics. What's less than ideal? Are Ezzy masts that much different from the general norm, like more pronounced hard tops or flex tops from Gaastra, Maui Sails or Neil Pryde? |

The feedback I get from 511 users is off the charts. Their objectives include all the stuff slalom sails are made for: low end power, top end speed, stability, good jibing, etc. I tried 'em one year in my 5.7 and 6.2 sizes, used 'em for half a season, didn't like 'em for the same reason I don't like cams: my primary objective is pure maneuverability. NW let me swap them straight up for new ZXLs. Problem solved.
And try that with Gaastra or Pryde. |

thx, you 'could' be correct.
Would you invest ..ummm say $300 in a sail that the sail maker has said ""isn't ideal to work in the mast you have "" ?
As well I have absolutely NO reason to expand my mast quirver , the Northwave sails explorations is just an extension of sails refresher studies 101.
Last April I took 18, that's eighteen sails to Hatteras, do I need something that the people that made it said it won't be ideal ? WITH
think not...........
it were a valiant effort to obtain a USA made sail to co exist with my existing masts, but they are AC-DC _________________ K4 fins

from several conversation with what i consider usually reliable mast/sail people , the Ezzy mast will work with the Northwaves.
Using a sacale of 10 for the ultimate NoLimitz mast, the Ezzy would be , maybe 7.5 --8. IMO, using a stiffer top in combo mast sizes would move the number up, at least a little.
Still doing so research......... _________________ K4 fins

update :
NW purchase a very nice ZX SE in 4.7, 2010. wants 400 mast.
Rigged this in the yard on a 400 Powerex SDM, looked and felt ok
Not enough wind to get a true test so far, but sailed to get the feel , way underpowered on the rig shown,
a EZZY 370 with a 40cm North RDM extendo, looked ok, but sailing was a treat , it wanted to go and very very light and compact in the hands
I see no reason the Ezzy mast wont work well.
