Stevenbard

The Federal workforce is actually 90% of what it was in 1990.

http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/data-analysis-documentation/federal-employment-reports/historical-tables/total-government-employment-since-1962/

And, government spending growth, relative to GDP, has dropped except for heathcare costs. Healthcare is driving any growth in the size of goverment.

So, the idea that government is growing out of control, at least in size and cost, is not entirely true.

It's not just the federal workforce; the number of people with ANY jobs has dropped by over half a million since Obama took office, despite many more people of working age now and despite Obama's incessant bogus claims of having created/generated 4.5M new jobs.

I love the way the rabid righties look at this situation.

If government jobs decline, it's Obama's fault because he can't grow jobs.

If government jobs increase, it's Obama's fault because "he's growing the government out of sight."

No, he's not. He's a fear-mongering xenophobe suffering from myopia and balance issues, with all political differences aside. Laughing Laughing Laughing

He is indeed all of those things you say and much more.

But I laugh at Mikey.

From a financial newsletter called Gains, Pains, & Capital:

What happened in Cyprus isn't a "one off" event.

1) U.S. regulators don't have the money to actually insure deposits that they claim. (Banking deposits are in the trillions of Dollars and most deposit insurance entities only have a few billion Dollars in funds.)

2) Politicians realize that people are fed up with the public funding bank bailouts... so they're targeting individual savers in the banks that are in trouble. Their thinking is that if you can't steal a little from everyone, you might as well try to steal a lot from a few people.

Could this happen in the US?

You better believe it. In fact, the FDIC has already put forth a proposal to do EXACTLY this in the event of a Crisis. Just four months ago, the FDIC drafted a formal strategy in which it suggested that during the next Crisis, it can...

1) Decide WHAT banks are systemically important.

2) Take control of any "systemically important" bank that it deems at risk of default.

3) Once in control of the bank, YOUR savings deposits can be "written down" in value (meaning you LOSE money you thought was yours) as part of the bank bailout.

Less than 99% of Americans realize this is the case, but the legislation allowing this is already IN PLACE and the FDIC has already written out the rules for what will happen.

Steven. ....This disgusting celebration from the rabid left is no surprise at all. Their vindictiveness, hatred, and intolerance is legendary while all the while claiming to be fighting for, and championing, freedom for the individual. (Be one of us....or else!)

These bigots are NOT representative of decent peoples feelings. Margaret was inspirational whether we liked what she did, or not. She has earned her place in our countries history.

R.I.P. Mrs Thatcher.

Yes GT! She helped correct the course of a crumbling empire. I only hope you can find another Thatcher some day. Luckily, many British generations have a Churchill or Thatcher, only to be kicked aside when the going gets good again.

Wait a minute. Please don't tell me GT, or any other Brit, rejoiced over Thatcher's death. She was one of the whole Empire's greatest modern "soft heroes" (people who risk everything but their lives for the good of their country), she saved it from complete economic collapse as arguably as Churchill saved it from military defeat, and JUST BECAUSE SHE WAS CONSERVATIVE, half the Empire and the absolute pieces of SHIT far left U.S. media like the BG and the NYT pillory her and her memory. To me that's every bit the equivalent of blaspheming MLK Jr -- my top pick for THE hero of the 20th Century. That's beyond disgusting.
