Brimar, sorry, you don't know the other sails.
6.6 Hucker is like a 6.6 Alpha, because you can't get something for nothing.
No special magic in Huckers, it's just a high COE, lower twist sail designed for early planing with big riders, that's all.
I know the Sailworks boyz from years of selling them, and talking to them at trade shows. |

So zirtaeb,
Have you sailed a Hucker?
I cannot imagine that you have as you are comparing these other fine sails to the Hucker but the fact is that there's no comparison.
Admittedly i'm very partial as I just love the 5.6 Hucker and the guys who I have turned on to the huckers are also thrilled with their performance!
Any way without side by side testing it's really all just BS.
I like my Huckers You like your sails and that's AWESOME!!
Have a great summer,

Brimar, don't be fooled by the fact I've only sailed short boards for 30 years, in the SanFrancisco area, have known Bruce since my first trade show appointment with him in 1985, know RobertStroh, know Ezzy, and know most of the sail designers of every sail company except maybe NorthWave. And sailed every spot from Baja up Oregon, and one of the credits in Windfinder, I have limited knowledge.
You can't get something from nothing. A Hucker, like your 6.6, is just a 6.6 sail with draft back, high COE (which you get with less downhaul in EVERY other 6.6 sail, and you lack cambers and long boom!
You want low end? Get a 3 cam rec slalom LONG BOOM sail, rig with with less downhaul than spec, and a slightly stiffer mast, use upper clew, and you HAVE MORE POWER than your 6.6 Hucker. |

6.6, no.
4.8, yes. Didn't feel any different than NR's, Dukes, Poisons, OnshoreWaves, or underdownhauled Revo's.
Some guys here rave about their Huckers. I always plane sooner on the same size OTHER sail, similar boards, but I cheat by pumping. Similar weight.
You can't get anything from nothing. A Hucker is just a low and mid range oriented freeride/wave sail, nothing more that other companies can't or don't make.
Bruce used to try slalom sailing with them. FAIL. Bruce even did some speed trials with them. FAIL.
They work fine for Dale because Dale is a superior sailior using small sails specifically for jumping, which requires speed. If Dale was sponsored by ANY other company, he would jump just as high with their sails, tuned to his needs. |

Used a 5.8 in a next to no wind the other day. Just plain non planing shore break riding and it was fun. Next thing Ill put a mast box on the SUP- it's a lot easier to get thru the break with a sail then with the paddle. |
