Put me on a traffic corner in any populated area for an hour and I guarantee I will come up with at least 30+ traffic violations.. |
You're preaching to the choir, to which I'd add, "and even if we could and did cite every significant, no-brainer violator, and even if the courts could handle the workload, many judges would still toss many serious violators". One NM resident was still driving after 21 DWI convictions, despite some of the strictest DWI laws in the nation. That's not lazy cops; that's bad judges.
Albuquerque: drunk runs a red light and kills a family. Penalty: time served. Same drunk does same thing a year or two later; a couple of years in jail.
WA state: car thieves normally, by policy, see no prison time until their 7th conviction. That's not the cops' fault; it's legislative BS.
Albuquerque: driver waves a pistol in my face. Despite multiple witnesses providing very detailed evidence about his identity and the weapon, not one city, county, nor state police office can help because, they claim, they're all too busy with active shooting incidents.
OTOH, a Co sheriff responding to an active home invasion stops me and threatens a reckless driving arrest because my WRX's tires chirped in a right angle turn.
And On Another Hand, those parking tickets I wrote as fast as I could write solved that problem for many years before and after I transferred from that base. Heavy enforcement, even if only for a short while, gets people's attention. After the parents on one Albuquerque residential street started throwing egg-sized rocks at drag-racing cars, the city marked off a stretch and began issuing tickets based on multiple parents' stopwatch readings. The drag racing all but ended. Similarly, a photo of a driver on da phone should be good enough for a ticket, considering that it's as dangerous as drunk driving and easier to photo-verify. |

John your arguments against gun laws because criminals break laws is equally valid against all laws.
We haven't stopped murder or rape with laws against them so why bother making it illegal?
Shouldn't all drugs be legal also since laws haven't stopped them?
Children still play with guns, why not just let them do so legally?
Why have laws or cops at all, folks just ignore them?
Somalia is testing this theory out right now, we could be just like them if we get rid of all these useless laws since no law stops criminals. |

Aww, Mikey, lighten up. Give the guy a break. He was just exercising his 2nd amendment rights.
You believe in those rights, don't you?
Oh, wait. Maybe not. You don't like those rights when they work AGAINST you.

Now one of the primary sources of small business loans is telling gun shop owners they are no longer eligible for those loans. Guess who's doing that? GE ... under Immelt ... under Obama's thumb. Sneaky, back-room, end-run, politics. If he can't run the country and our lives out in the open as he promised, he'll use dirty tricks and do it behind our backs. |

Thanks for the update, Mikey. Remind me to buy more GE stock.
