Noaa forecast called for this. My buddy Steve is out at Maryhill and verified that it is blowing 25 out of the east right now.
My gut tells me to to wait for Stevenson to blow.
Very unusual.

Actually Ben's 7AM and mid day forecasts also had significant east wind:
"Meanwhile, Maryhill will hold around 20 with gusty easterlies. The Coast looks to fill in through the afternoon."
But this strong is amazing.

Meanwhile, not a good afternoon at all today at Stevenson. Lots of kiters limping in, one sailor drifting below the railroad bridge. Should have gone to the Wall?

Our normal easterly events are driven by gap flow with strong surface pressure gradients across the cascades and a temperature inversion capping the boundary layer. This event was driven by upper level NE wind mixing down to the surface. Ridge top winds were very strong in the mountains this morning. Sites in tight terrain like the western gorge looked very gusty. This is sort of like a gusty west wind situation during stronger storms when the best wind is way out east where the terrain is more open. We drove by Rooster Rock this morning and is was glass at about 10am but trees higher up were moving a lot. This is a very interesting weather pattern (at least for weather nerds) that rarely occurs.

I got all loaded up before saw the Isobar map. A classic B.S. E. wind day.

Perhaps this is a product of imaginary insanity.... but hey, I'm not responsible because it was windy at my house. We just need to bring the river up to my house and it would have been a good call. It's the same pattern this AM, really windy up here in the high places of the gorge... no wind down below. Hopefully it will fill in at Stevie.
