Hi Gang,
The first satellite image shows the surface low pressure and its clouds that helped create Bay Area the AVERAGE winds Saturday and is spoiling the wind today. This counter-clockwise spinning puppy is especially weird since it came over us from the East.
The second image is a video of the upper Cut-Off Low that is around 18,000 feet ABOVE the surface low. It was the upper level winds from the Cut-Off Low that turbocharged the surface winds Saturday. Cut-Off Lows are always unpredictable since they are cut off from the normal upper wind flow from West to East around. This creature may wander around for a few more days but it looks to me that it is poised to eject eastward over Southern California.
