Sidebar question: Are adustable outhauls really most useful for larger sails, and if so what size ranges? Thanks! ~Steve

Those boom clamps have to be super tight not to slip. If your kit shipped with rubber shims, you should just be able to engage the screw threads... you can turn the shim 90 degrees to adjust how much it affects the fit.

There's a hole in the clam cleat for anchoring the 6mm line. Make sure you put the knot on the outside of the cleat so it doesn't touch the sail... that little knot with repeated chafing can put a hole in your sail. Also if you're still having problems with the cleat collar slipping, you can anchor the line on the boom instead of using the hole in the cleat.

I also have the Sailworks Adjustable Outhaul Kits in stock if anybody needs them:

Fred Meyer sells 3M tape 1mm thick with adhesive on both sides.
Stick the tape on the inside of the clamp, then put the clamp on the boom.
Bomber.

walkingman,

A.O.'s are great for 9, 10, 11 meter sails. 7 & 8 are ok, but won't get used as much. Where they provide the best use is on formula boards where you do a lot of upwind and downwind sailing. Flat sail upwind and bagged sail for downwind. If you are just reaching out and back, an A.O. will give you a little more range, but nothing significant.

I have them on my 6.6, 7.6, 8.4, 9.2 & 11.0
