Hope to see you and many others at the Buzzards Bay Crossing, Ron! Looks like we may get planing winds both days, although light guys may have an advantage. But then, you fall into that category |

I've got to go 3/4 the way to Kalmus tomorrow at 3:30. Gear will be packed in the event the weather cooperates.
I'm afraid that along with Elvis and Sinbad, I'll be among the missing for the BB Xing. You all wouldn't want me stinking up the joint with ancient crap anyway. |

Ancient crap rules! I got my Fanatic Ultra Cat from the last century prepared for this race. Maybe that's why it now looks like enough wind for smaller gear.
This is a fun event - most "racers" will barely have a clue what to do. There should be short races, too, where dry jibes (and perhaps tacks, depending on the course) matter much more than how old the gear is. Maybe we'll also get some (semi-)serious racers like the Terminator. They'll show us how much room for improvement we still have . |

Yeah, I'm at the very S tip of Lk. Michigan right now... on my way to Buzzards Bay... with a van full of ancient crap, LOL
Most the boards and sails I'm bringing are from '92 - '94 (but, I still like 'em and they're WAY higher tech than all the gear I had through the 80's
Greg -
PS - The time changes going all the way east, from all the way west on this journey... is tough on me. |

Greg,
Once you get back home and recover from you odyssey, can you post about your trip across the country? hours per day driving, total days, etc.
I am planning to drive from NY to Rio Vista, CA leaving on Sunday, June 23. I am giving myself more time than you did. A week to get out there, and then 2 weeks for the return tripat end of August.
thanks for any helpful hints. I've been across the country in a car before, when I was 12, so I didn't drive. But I did drive from NY to OK back in 1990 in my Shelby CSX, not a windsurf van!
have a fun time!! |
