there will be no BEST

Makani have several fins that would be useful

I use this below in smaller sizes

I hardy consider myself a freestyle specialist, but freestyle weed fins are not so common

I would consider K4, but not so weed dedicated

Ask Andy at Wind NC ...... he carries Makanis

The Makani Naias are ok, but not great. My wife sails them all the time, but it took her a few days to get it dialed. I sometimes sail a 21 when powered, but I don't do any new school tricks.

I think the "Style Weed" from Maui Ultra Fins may be worth trying. I have not sailed it, but I have two other weed fins from Maui Ultra Fins (speed weed and slalom weed) that are excellent, way better than most other weed fins. Their regular weed fin has also done very well in tests by the German windsurfing magazine, which failed several other weed fins (including one from Select that I had, but could not get rid of fast enough because it was terrible).

MUF prices are reasonable, ordering by email is easy, responses and delivery are quick.

I have several MUFs

the Style weed, would certainly be a possibility, and some of the twin fins, in weed form.

Olaf at MUF pretty knowledgeable guy

I have the Makani Naia 18. I'm relatively low level for new school sliding & only had opportunity to use it once on 5.9 in somewhat marginal conditions. Worked fine fo me.

I was looking at a KaKu and a Choco .
The KaKu looks pretty good to me I saw it at this website.

http://www.loopeewindsurfing.com/product_p/fins-kaku-weed.htm

It has more of a bent freestyle fin outline rather than a short full on weed
fin . I wonder how well is works in weeds?

I have heard the Maui Ultra's are pretty good in genral.

The KaKu is great in weeds, it is also very fast. for this type fin. Wind NC will have them as well.

The Choco fin is supposed to be sold by some company in Florida, communication did not work for me. For sure you could order from the UK
from 4 Boards.

do you just like that kaku enough to leave it in with non-weed side fins, or do they not catch weeds?

YES, size is correct for this setup as the fin itself, excellent

never noticed that the K4s caught any weeds. (K4s have 2 degree of toe and asymmetrical insides , continuation of fin studies 101a)

board needs to be well powered up, so they probably shed nicely
