I bought some in Hatteras last month, and used them for a few days. They worked perfectly fine on one side, but on the other side, they initially did not hold the length I had set. That eventually resolved itself (not sure why).
The one big plus is that they are stiffer than most other adjustable lines when using the lines at long length, like 30-32 in. In strong winds, my other adjustable lines get blown away a bit, making hooking in harder; that was less of an issue with the clip lines.
Are they worth their money? Maybe, if you really need adjustable lines. But the instructions suggest to take the lines off after each use, which would be a PITA. I also noticed that they made noticeable indentations on the boom - the contact area seems a bit smaller, and the edges harder, than with traditional lines. I ended up going back to regular fixed lines. |

I found it a bit unbelievable that in the video, the featured sailor was never really hooked into the harness lines. Also, I'm thinking that it would be a pain to adjust the position of the lines while sailing.
I can honestly say that I won't be spending my money on that product. At better than twice the price, I can't see the advantages. The effort to remove and install the tail extension when changing lines isn't really a problem, and it isn't something that you must do regularly. Actually, when you think about it, it's a good idea to remove and clean your tail extension on occasion just to keep it in good serviceable condition. |
