Why do lake sailors look old and tired at the same time?

Yeah, the only old and tired stuff in this 4th of July picture. What my friends Apollo and Aphrodite lack in equipment they very well make up in appearance, stamina and ambition.
Look -stereotyping and generalizations have been proved to be so wrong over and over again!

Great picture !!
That's a '90 Fanatic Viper (I'm pretty sure).
And the boom is too high for her... luckily I know how to adjust it... I'll be right there !!

PS - Oh yeah... the original question. Answer - "They're not"... So, what makes you say that Smile

Well, I think the pic shows the perception of lake windsurfing which is a couple of beginners on a 25 YO board trying to figure out how to rig it or flailing in a 5 mph wind, never to be seen again after day one. I am talking about hard core lake sailors, masters of wind forecasting without apps or wind talkers, out in gusty up and down winds, stuck way out when wind suddenly dies and hammered when the wind amps upward. Takes a special attitude to be in for the long haul. So, a look of old and tired at the same time. IMO

You're describing virtually every body of fresh water and many salty venues. The "old" part is because so many kids are too lazy to get good at WSing, and the "tired" part is because we've had too much fun. Very Happy

I am old. I don't feel like it, but I may look it since I lost all my hair. It's very tiring sailing upwind to avoid being sucked over the spillway.

Great vid Freak. I really enjoyed that. What lake is that. I can relate to sailing unhooked and making adjustments. It's a lake thang.

Nice Vid, wish we had wind that steady around here. Washoe Lake being at 5,000' with down slope wind coming off 10,000 peaks near by and hot desert to the East create strong but "periodic" winds.
