Hi Gang,
August 25 iwindsurf.com/ikitesurf.com will begin shipping a revolutionary new pocket size wind meter that plugs into any iPhone or Android smart phone. Simply hold the phone and the tiny turbine facing into the wind. Your phone does the rest by recording the wind speed (average, lull and gust), wind direction and location.
Then share your onsite wind report via our free apps with friends via WeatherFlow, Instagram, Vine, Twitter, SMS, Email, Facebook. Best of all you can view other sailors and kiters crowdsourced wind information using one of our free phone apps like Windalert.
This tool will greatly expand wind information for all of us! It’s operating range extends from the smallest puff (2 mph) to well over hurricane force winds (125 mph). Calibrated at the University of Florida’s Aerospace Engineering Department, our Wind Meter is accurate to the larger of +/- 0.5% of the reading or 0.2 mph at up to 15° off-axis. That means even if you don’t hold it directly into the wind, you’ll still get very accurate wind speed information.
To get more information or preorder for $29.95 use this link:

"This tool will greatly expand wind information for all of us!"
....and possibly greatly confuse us too!

We are working on software that will allow users to vote UP or vote down the reading from each wind meter owner. So someone who does not take good readings will be voted out. Plus you still have our regular sensors for comparison.

Will this include a better "On Site Report" interface?
Posts on Facebook are a hell of a lot better these days but we are of course limited by our circle of friends and groups we belong to.
A simple interface that allows text input would be a great start. Allowing photo or video uploads would be awesome.

And thus is born the era of the High Tech Wind Dummy. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

How do you view the crowd sourced wind information in the WindAlert phone app?

i've been using windmeter for iphone for a few years. i've stood next to people with all types of meters and mine gets the same reading as theirs.
can't share the readings but $1.00 and no attachments required.
none of them beat standing on the beach and looking at the water especially if you have a wind dummy.
actually, most of the times I use my windmeter is out of curiosity to compare it to other kinds of meters .

To quote the stereotypical venture capitalist, "I'm not seeing a compelling value proposition here."

I judge by what I see, however, I would order one just for fun, but the Android App isn't ready yet.
