Our van has pipes slipped behind the hanging Seatbelts on the passenger side.
Our masts live safely in the pipes. When we clear out the van for other use the pipes stay against the roof and put of the way, masts always sorted and safe.

You can change chinook and most other lines while the sail is rigged without taking the boom apart.
Always change them in pairs.the other is sure to blow out if you just change one.

Next time, buy a looser suit. I buy mine one or two sizes over so they're loose, comfortable, more versatile, and easy to doff and don.

Definitely true, especially if you buy a suit that's designed to be loose, like the Ianovated suit. It's the warmest and most comfortable suit I've tried, even if you completely ignore that it solves the cold hand problem. A little bit of water entry when swimming in near-freezing water is not a problem. My lovely wife, who owns about 5 wet suits and a dry suit, had to get one after trying it once. The loose upper body and arms kept her warm enough that she sailed through most of the Cape Cod winter without using the tubes.

We will have an Ianovated "tube suit" to look at (and to win at the raffle) at the East Coast Windsurfing Festival Cape Cod in Hyannis on September 14-15. There will also be at least 3 local windsurfer who own the suit who'll be glad to rave about it.

For those of you who have boards with Power Boxes, use a small piece of vinyl tubing as a fin screw keeper.

take a piece of vinyl tubing a few mm's long (like the kind that comes on the footstrap screws of most boards these days), put your fin screw in your board and thread the piece of tubing onto the screw. Now the screw will stay in your board when you take your fin out, so you'll never lose it.

Screw keeper -- that's genius! Kicking myself for never thinking of it.

do you have one mast per tube or multiple masts per tube? I am assuming you are using PVC pipe. What size pipe do you use? thanks, I have been looking to do the same, but can't decide on what size pipe to use. I would like to put 2 or 3 masts in each pipe and have one pipe for 400cm masts, one for 430 masts and one for 460/490 masts.

thanks.

When the water is dangerous cold like it is here in Boston in the winter and early spring. I will wear my wetsuit under my drysuit for maximum warmth and safety..Works well.

We use very thin tubes with one mast per tube so they don't scratch going in.
The seat belts for the missing third row seats hold them up.
Tape them in pairs, cut short enough for the mast labels to stick out.
Send me a PM with your email and I will send you a pic.
It takes only minutes to rig this in a Home Depot parking lot if you have a cheap saw.

Pushing on the boom transformed my sailing.

I always liked long harness lines but had to raise my boom too high in order to maintain tension before discovering that pushing the boom away from me was the solution.

Increasing the connection sail to rider, I was able to finally understand sail behavior.

Could you explain a bit? When I am in the position shown my lines are taut. If I am not putting weight on the lines pushing would make them tight?
Why do I want them tight with no load, or slightly tighter with a load?
It makes your arms straighter . It that a benefit?
