We are hoping to organize a race and freestyle competition event similar to the ECWF in Long Island in Kalmus on September 14-15, 2013. There are still a few things that could derail it, but chances are good that it will happen.
Helpers are wanted - for example, freestyle judges who know the difference between a Burner and a Funnel. We'll probably also need a rescue boat or jet ski. More about it on my blog at http://boardsurfr.blogspot.com/.

I'm so glad that this is happening! Thanks in advance to all who have worked so hard to make this happen. I will be there come hell or high water. The timing is great too.

Hope to see you all there, Jeff, Michael, Slinky, and Jeff!
For those who are still thinking about coming, I attached pictures of a few items that we will give away in the raffle (all participants will get a ticket!).
Thanks to Maui Ultra Fins, Ianovated, and all the other sponsors who have promised to send items for the raffle!

We have a new great event at the ECWF: windsurfing clinics with Mike Burns on both days! Mike will answer questions about anything windsurfing. Tricks, racing strategy, how to get planing early, anything at all.
If you don't know Mike: he is one of the best amateur freestylers on the US East Coast. He is also one of the nicest guys I know. He has organized the East Coast Windsurfing Festival on Long Island for the last 5 years, and thereby given us the idea to start the ECWF Cape Cod. Check out the video from his Gorge trip this year at https://vimeo.com/71590436!
The two "Pick Mike's Brain" clinics will take place during the lunch breaks on Saturday 9-14 and Sunday 9-15.

According to the computer models, it looks like we'll have light winds for part or perhaps all of the ECWF Cape Cod. But the iWindsurf meteorologists are more optimistic:
Quote: | A surge of cooler air so NW flow gains some level of influence beyond computer expectations. Widespread upper teens to push lower 20s in the afternoon but cool and gusty. |
So bring you longboards for light wind racing, and slalom boards in case we get more wind! May be a good idea to also bring SUPs - if we get a few hours with no wind, we'll have some fun SUP races.
See you all tomorrow morning! Registration is between 9 and 10 am, first skipper's meeting at 10:15. Give yourself some extra time for putting numbers on your sails!
