Went with the Makani Hahalua 38cm. So far so good performance wise, can't say I noticed any drop off in speed or upwind vs the stock 44cm fin, except NO WEEDS!
Fantastic customer service too!

Tried to work with Lessacher, I know his fins are highly regarded but it was was like pulling teeth trying to communicate, he's a very grumpy old man.
I don't need bs like that.

Update. After several sessions the fin is very good when powered up but there is a loss in low wind performance.
I guess that's the tradeoff, otherwise all fins would be weed proof. Like almost everything there's a trade off, but I'm happy with the fin, it does what it supposed to do. Nice looking too.

with any weeder, one has to put the mast base further back. i tend to like my windSUP 11'8" base back for nearly every application. have you done that already?

oops, yup, a brain fart, james.

Did you mean put the mast base further back? Fin doesn't move.
