Pushing on the boom ensures that there's constant tension in the rig. It stiffens the connection between rider and sail. It leverages full body motion and swing reducing the parasite energy loss created by bending arms when pulling.
To maintain the tension in the lines, it's important that the harness lines length allows the arms to be fully extended. This added tension transmits every bit of power directly through the legs and onto the board.
Pulling is still necessary, in a deep lull, to get out of the straps, to unhook, to hover over a wave, or to jump. Pulling automatically reduces harness lines tension and therefore create a power transmission hold (or loss) to the board.
The push isn't constant, it's simply there to make sail adjustment when necessary, in a neutral position, there's an average tension in the harness, hands are simply resting on the boom, arms relaxed nearly extended.
With the increased rig tension, it's possible to feel through the body the slight differences in sail behavior and settings, because the pull happens most exclusively through the body. |

Keep your razors in a small tupperware with a bit of cooking oil in the bottom, razors rust long before the dull from shaving, this tip will extend a disposable razor's life X5 at least.
When the shower drain gets slow or before it gets slow pour in a cup or so of bleach and let it sit overnight, bleach dissolves hair. I'm a plumber but I would never tell a client this.
If you live in a tropical environment pour a cup of vinegar in with your wash to remove the musty smell from your clothes.
Never make any enemies unless it is in your best interest.
Always walk away from trouble if you can. (this is why I don't surf anymore)
When troubleshooting electrical or mechanical devices never believe in a coincidence, i.e. the symptoms are the result of one problem in most all cases not two separate problems.
If it can go wrong, eventually it will.
KISS, keep it simple stupid.
If it sounds too good to be true it certainly is.
Never invest in anything until you have an exit strategy, i.e. if it starts to fall in price at what point will you bail?
Never hand your money over to a "money manager" or "investment strategist"
There are no shortcuts, to anything. |

Buy a mast top extension rather than a mast base extension.
It is cheaper and lighter. |
