road: pretty dry now, but last 5 miles or so to fish camp is in bad shape. even for off-road cars, there were some sketchy sections and you could bottom out. on the other hand, the road in from the airport/stone pickers side is supposed to be in much better shape. people were making it in/out with sedans/outbacks.

water temps: i sail santa cruz area, and found the 4/3 with no rashguard a bit too warm at psc. i tried just shorts and a rashguard, and that was fine if you're not planning to fall in too often.

I sailed a 3-2 full suit with shorty arms and it was plenty fine for long sessions. It was 'pleasant' for PSC, lets say.

The "north road" definitely is in a somewhat better shape, less washouts. Those guys in the airport rental car and outback were pushing their luck. It's all good fun until it isn't and you are sitting on the side of the road praying for one of the locals to come by save your arse because you were a stupid gringo.

The road was definitely horrendous on 9/ll when we drove in,
but on the way out like, 9/16 there had been a lot of grading done and it was much better, still bad but not near as intimidating and definitely passable.

It took us about 3 hours from SS to the paved road.
I personally will never drive that journey again; total of about 20 hours each way from Bay Area to psc in a cramped car. I will pay to fly.

For water temp I thought it was similar to the bay, a bit cooler. I was not comfortable in a 3/2 short sleeve but comfortable in an excel 4/3 Mad

just got back from PSC... water was on the cold side for fall in my experience. I was comfortable windsurfing in a 3/2 short sleeve (I also use this suit most here in SF Bay). I was a bit cold surfing in the same suit.

I was able to trunk it one day up at the beach break... water seemed to be warmer at the point and beach break than down in the chili bowl. even paddling back to shore behind the point felt like going through a thermocline.

the dirt road in is bumpy.. as bumpy as I've seen it in recent memory. 1st challenge is at the mid point arroyo... but if you go past the first option, the 2nd option is really easy. Then, take the rock beach road into PSC instead of pinball alley... the rock beach turnoff was marked with a small sign that said "Antoine" or something like that.
