I am seriously considering it... not easy to demo these though. Anyone use one in the gorge? I like the wingers on the 2013, looks good for chop. Im wafting between the 86 and 96 and 106 (maybe 116). looking for some info on how they take chop for the respective sizes and if the hype on the site is true.

The forum's probably sick of me saying how much I love my 96 3s(2012) and 116 3s (2013) but I'm really loving the boards! I'm 220lbs, 6' 2" and the 96 gives me a lot of float but eats chop.

I couldn't believe the difference in feel from my Synchro (also a board I loved), it's so much more smoth, handles chop like butter, jybes sooooo easily and hops out of the water.

I have northeast conditions so the wind isn't what it is in the gorge, definitely consider going 86ltr dependent on your weight.

Have fun!

DC Very Happy

I'm also in the northeast and love my 3S. I sail it from 18-20 mph winds to whatever we get here (usually 25-30 mph averages, sometimes 35). It handles chop very well, even voodoo chop. I used to switch to smaller boards (77-82 l) when the wind got near 30, but now I'm just switching to a smaller fin in the 3S. The 96 has enough float for my 195 lb to make schlogging painless. You can probably get the 3S a bit bigger than other boards since it's so easy to ride even when it gets gnarly.

Boardsrfr,
I'm about the same weight. What's the largest sail you put on that 96L?

I often sail it with a 6.5. The biggest I have put on it was a 7.5, but that was pushing the limits a bit. I almost never sail smaller than 4.5, and the 3S 96 works well with the 4.5.

Im 210 so Im thinking I would get the most use out of the 96L and still be able to go to smaller sails before I switch to glass boards when the wind picks up. Anyone have any comparison between this and the 95L 2012 fanatic freewave?
