It seems like everyone is talking about the America's cup foilers lately.
Are we going to see hydrofoils on windsurfers now, too? Ive already seen them on kite boards lately. |

Rich Wilson built a foiling windsurfer 17 years ago. Bard Chrisman was the only guy who could make it go, and even he could not jibe, or tack it. |

Miller.
Foil mounted on the nose, and one on the tail.
I rode it ONCE. Jibing was tenous, but I never dropped the sail. Tacking was normal.
It was no faster than a planing windsurfer.
Might have had some advantages upwind, but I was a downwind slalom sailor at the time. |
