I finished up the revision/recycle/remodel of the RRD wave one that started this tread....Finished it with new cosmetics and a reshaped nose.

I've held off on the cosmetics work till I was sure I've gotten all the performance right....and until the sailing slowed down to take it out of service for a few days. I used linear polyurethane paint, with no slip in clear epoxy and new NSI surf padz. I think it looks a little better without the square nose and those faded orange and black swoopies and ratty old dirty white decks from RRD..

I was appalled when I went to get some paint locally and found they wanted $87 a pint! (without the hardener!) WTF? I used some 10yr old stuff I had left from another project...looks ok, I guess.[/img]

Thanks. Board graphics? No telling what might appeal to who(m?) they're really not that important to most of us...unless they are really ugly or really 'special'...

I had 4 or 5 different custom Watson boards in the distant past...no specified graphics...some were to my taste, some not so much...after a few Baja winter seasons they all kinda faded a bit anyhow...Hmmm, still have a few of those somewhere...better dig em out....

the nose shape is great

I will be cutting soon nose and tail Iam most curious how you did it, thinking I may get a tip or 2 to save myself aggravation

How did you cut to get it even on both sides, and the finish work, what did you use

did you worry about the nose rocker height ?

Re-shaping this particular board's nose was straight forward. Glass cloth and epoxy resin was all it took. No change to the rocker. Sometimes, they're much more involved, depending on their construction. The only complication with this RRD was working with it's carbon/kevlar lay up. Kevlar is difficult to work with, tends to leave Fuzzies as you sand it..

Google around for tutorials, there are plenty, of various worth, on the Net. Too much to tell right here, not fair to Isobars, et al
