The drawing from Joachim depicts exactly how I have modified my Konas.
The new plates are slighty different and allow you to go back to the
original fixed dagger board by changing the pin back to a standard round
pin. I will attempt to post pictures.

So it came with 2 pins? Do you know if the pin is removable on the K1 CB? I have never tried to remove it. I don't think it is.

It came with only the round pin. The other pin with the flats was fabricated from scratch.
I have removed the pins from five K1's. Only one of them was difficult to remove. It felt a little like it was glued while most of them just feel like a press fit. I bore a 1" hole in a piece of wood then lay the dagger board on top of that with the pin in the hole and press or tap the pin out.
This mod can be done with the careful use of hand tools. The pin can be modified while still in the dagger with a Japanese saw. However you must figure out how to cut the flats parallel.

you guys sound like "pin heads"
i get the K1 - even IF it is a hybrid
it has proven itself in many ways - internationally
unfortunately it is NOT very popular locally
offered a local fellow $1200 for his almost new K1 and he refused
now he is trying to sell it for almost $900
i purchased a Mistral Equipe I LCS-XR in the interim for $250...
i find the K1 new a little expensive
then again i find ALL the new boards (and sails, masts, etc) expensive
and yet that board for its price has a great range
what i do NOT get is the K1 Carbon - can i call is a K1C ??
for another $1000 you get a carbon version of a hybrid with a sliding mast track
it is starting to sound like a race board - open class only
the website states it is for a select few ie niche board
guess i would like to see one LIVE ...
if ever there is one in Montreal , please let Sailboarder and myself know !!

I got to sail the CarbOne last Sunday in planning conditions. I've been too busy to post but here it is. I loved it.
Carrying it from the parking lot to the water sure was nice. if you're a Kona sailor you know what I mean.
Mast track was silky smooth. It was easy to work and I had fun experimenting with it. On my K1 I kept my mast foot in the front 1/3 of the track all the time. With this board I was quite happy pulling it back 1 or 2 clicks aft of the mid point when well powered.
The dagger board operation was smooth and easy.
Wind conditions when I arrived were gusting to around 16 mph. one guy was on a 122 Cross Fire with a 9.0 and a couple of formula guys were on 10.0. I rigged my 8.5 Infinity, went out and had no trouble planning 90 % of the time. I feel like it would have taken possibly a meter larger on a K1, but a half meter for sure. I sold my K1 a couple of weeks ago so I can't do a back to back comparison. My other light wind setup is a Bic Techno Formula and I will do a comparison with that but I was having too much fun Sunday for anything else. The wind built a little and most people wound up rigging about 7.5 but again I didn't want to stop.
It behaved just like you would expect. It's a lighter Kona. It accelerates quicker, it planes earlier, feels a little livelier and stays on the plane longer when the wind slacks off. It keeps up better with the short boards but it is still a Kona which means occasionally, when you're dialed in, you'll run with them but otherwise they'll out run you, just not by as much as the K1.
When I had a K1 I would rig about a meter larger than the short board sailors. I was hoping with the CarbOne I could rig no more than a half meter larger and maybe even the same size sometimes. After the first ride I know I can rig within a half meter. If I learn anything else of significance I'll post it.
Hopefully I haven't bored everyone. I feel like the Kona guys would want to know about this board.

as u can see in my post just before..
longboarders are interested in your experiences with the K1C as well
what i also find interesting is that you kept your BIC Techno Formula
I have one as well and was trying to sell it in order to have the cash for a K1
will continue with my Mistral Equipe, BTF, + + +
keep posting findings bmoore98!!!
