My old '07 JPSlalom 84 liter, at 55 cm. wide, has large cutouts.
Don't mean it was a smart or good design.
Speed trials is a specialized game, not needing much acceleration or easy of jibing. Slalom and freeride does need both.

I would say that speed boards need acceleration too! That's just me though

That's just you.
Have you competed in speed trials competitions?
I have, more than 6, and know acceleration is not in much of a need, but pure top end is premium. Even the 245lbs guys have PLENTY of time to hit top speeds, at any event.

I've competed in local ones Very Happy For my home spot the acceleration is needed as the gusts are short and narrow. Conditions aren't even prime most of the time for 10seconds. For 500m competitions, I would care more for overall average speed instead of acceleration but once again that is just me Very Happy
