Like it or not, windsurfing is a lot about bullsh***ting. I see more of that on the beach than I see actual windsurfing on the water. Let's take any windy day at Roosevelt and I bet that the bulls***itting/windsurfing ratio is more than 5 to 1. And don't tell me I am wrong, I sail there quite often.

So, if we can't bullsh**it on a windsurfing forum, it is useless.

BSing doesn't violate any forum rules, and is easy to ignore.

Yep, here's what you've all been waiting for, my Gorge Statistics for the Gorge 2014 Wink

Got here June 2, should leave in a day or two, still time to invite me for dinner.

So, how was the Gorge this summer? In terms of windsurfing days per month, here are the numbers:

June was the best month, considering I missed June 1, a 4.7 day at the Hatch. If I would have made in on time, it would have been a 93% hit.

The 86% total average is what I usually get, but I would say 2014 was below average in term of strong winds:

More to come, got to go windsurf.

Guy, thanks for your Gorge statistics. So far, September is making up for August lack of nuke.

GUY THE QUEBECKER FOR GORGE WINDSURFER OF THE YEAR!

I love the numbers... Is there any way we can get you some sort of grant so that you could study the month of May?

Going to go shred Rufus or someplace east today...

Was at the Wall yesterday and finished the day at Roosevelt on my 4.0/76L. Almost forgot how good it feels to be on small stuff! 4.2 this morning at Rowena.

Tim, I spent the month of May in Cape Hatteras (Apr 20 to May 27, to be more precise). Got it pretty good there, 28 out of 38, that 74%. And most of the sailing was in a shortie, Ok, lots of moderate and light wind, but enjoyed it. I am not sure the Gorge beats that in May.

So next year, I will probably do the same trip, Cape Hatteras and then the Gorge!

edit: Forgot to thank you guys for the feedback.

Hey Guy, I just had a look at my stats, and I have 52 of 54 days planning to date.
So 96%, but I'm a cheaper date than you are because I count it a successful
day if I'm planing in the straps for 15 minutes or more, and I have a 6.7
and am not afraid to use it. And, since I won't leave until mid October,
you can be pretty sure my success rate will drop substantially.

-Craig

p.s. I only used the 6.7 exclusively 1 day this year at the Boat Ramp.
All other days included 5.7 or better.

p.p.s. This Saturday looks like a skunker to me.

Well Craig, to count it as a windsurfing day, I still apply the "1 hour minimum continuous planing time" rule.

Barely made a stat today, 1 hour of 7.4 at Viento, just enough to make this week a perfect one. Smile

Here's the number of days in a week I got since I got here, including the number of days I was on a 5.3 or smaller:

Guy,

You sure you don't want to start coming to Sandbanks Provincial Park?

This was yesterday and it was 75% of the great it can be. You're missing out buddy. Logo high super clean waves up wind at Upper Macs and mast high "dirty" waves on the outside. Look in the background of some of those shots.

I will for sure this year. I think they had a couple of real good ones at Champlain Lake so far.

Time to go home, maybe.
